Helen Kane never voiced the character Betty Boop. she wasnt signed to do so.

Helen was with paramount but not with the fleischer studios.

Betty Boop was voiced by

Kate Wright, Margie Hines, Little ann little, Bonnie Poe & Mae Questel.

Helen kane was the first person who invented the Style of Boop Oop a Dooping, she was the one who made it ever so populer she had imitators imitating her around 1929 - 1930

helen kane was actually a singer and actress and she was somewhat of a celebrity but by 1930 her popularity decreased and people would rather see a Betty Boop cartoon than watch helen kane perform live.

and yes your right a contest was held,

out of the voices of Betty Boop

Little ann little, kate wright & mae Questel had entered. and Mae Questel Won first place.

Paramount and The fleischer studios created a caricature of Helen kane and the caricature later became Betty Boop.

in 1934 Helen launched a lawsuit against the fleischer studios stating they was stealing her style of singing and style

but she lost becuse all other girls of the 1930s had that hairstyle and they tried to change the subject saying clara bow was the original model which was wrong.

also the fleischer studios had got footage of Little known african american performer Baby esther Booping in a early film from the early days of recording

so helen kane lost.

although Betty Boop was Originally a Caricature of Helen Kane, and people could see that

Helen told the press how she was shocked and dissapointed and that she and her friends could see that it was in dact a delebirate caricature of her.
